Godspeed You! Black Emperor is a post-rock band from Montreal.  Created in 1994, GY!BE found their name in a Japanese movie by director Mitsuo Yanagamachi.  The movie depicts the exploits of a biker gang.  The band is well known for being anticapitalists and do not talk too much to the media.  The co-founder of the band, Efrim Menuch, was often seen with protestors during Quebec's notorious "Maple Spring".

Godspeed You! Black Emperor produces records with 2 to 4 songs, anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes divided by movements.

Godspeed will take part in the show, Monumental, with the modern dance troupe The Holy Body Tattoo.  They'll be performing at the Maisonneuve Theater in April 2016 and at the Grand Théâtre de Québec, in April 2016 as well.
