When it opened in 1900, the National Theatre was the first professional French-speaking theatre. Between the 1960’s and 1980’s, the National became a movie theatre before going back to its first vocation at the end of the 1990’s.
Depending on the room’s configuration, the National can welcome between 575 and 757 people for its shows and concerts. Located at 1220, Ste-Catherine East, the National Theatre is easily accessible by public transportation (it’s situated near metro Beaudry).
Like the Metropolis and the Corona Theatre, the National Theatre is one of those mythic theatres of the city.
